The problem with UBI is that the money comes from the rich people. You don't want to take money from the rich people and give it to the poor. That's a terrible idea and it's a great way to destroy wealth.

a penny-pinching government is a recipe for a shrinking economy. Look at the UK under Thatcher, or the US under Reagan. Spending is a red herring. Economies grow because of productivity.

In the past corps+the rich contributed a lot more to the tax base than they do now despite controlling more wealth. I lean against something like a wealth tax or estate tax, but regulations on how corporations spend on ceo's vs workers and aggressively closing tax loopholes are worth discussing imo. I do agree the gov should have as light a touch as possible,

I believe UBI will necessary for a period of time to allow thos who cannot be reskilled to participate in the economy. Eventually, it could be phased out as new work force participant are trained in workforce relevant skills. Humanity needs to feel useful. If all skilled jobs are replaced, the population will eventually trim back AI so people can have meanin

I think people do often assume the market knows best without strong evidence that that's the best for an economy. I believe in regulated capitalism. We might not need to talk about ideas like redistribution as opposed to progressive taxes if corps couldn't lobby the government as they do.
